Just been back to Mirrens and found a whole new menu. They now offer a taster menu from their new chef, Seamus. The presentation is superb matched by the taste experience. Thoroughly recommended. My favourite was pulled pork with blackcurrant leather. The food is complements by a range of hand made plates from Vicky Ware Ceramics.
Very delicious food, my turkey dinner was just as good as my mum's! The staff were lovely and warm. My friends and I had the private room which was very comfortable and enjoyable to be in. I would definitely go again!

Staff are very welcoming, also cater very well for babies and children. Food is beautiful all freshly cooked. Definitely recommend Parkers for lunch, snack or evening meal. They also do bed and breakfast.

Best Chinese in Mid-Wales! I've been going to the Kwai Chin for many years and I have to say the food and service is spot on every time. If you like a particular meal, you're guaranteed to have it exactly the same the next time you have it. Simon the manager, always serves you in a professional and courteous manner. Food is prepared very quickly, packed with ingredients and absolutely gorgeous! Couldn't recommend this Chinese enough! There are many Chinese takeaways in Newtown but only Kwai Chin can provide a meal of this quality everytime. 5* Well deserved, thank you to Simon and his team!

As a long time lover of Chinese/ Asian food and having travelled to many asiatic countries I’m constantly amazed at how many restaurants cannot live up to the simple, fresh tastes. Finding only 1 Chinese restaurant in Newtown I was prepared to be disappointed again. To my surprise, The Lantern delivered with outstanding excellence. Fresh, tasty and authentic. A described meal not on the menu was far better than expected. I once heard a good Chinese restaurant does not care about decor because they concentrate on the food. True! Definitely deserves a visit. And staff very friendly too. Highly recommend.

Food was good but you get half as many chips compared to other local places and it's more expensive. I was a bit miffed when a member of staff told off a trainee for asking if I want sauce on my burger then when I insisted on sauce, I was told to pay for it! Who orders a burger without sauce? It should be included, it seems a little out of touch. It didn't make me feel particularly welcome and that my custom was an inconvenience to them. The trainee was very polite and obviously a lot more in touch with what customers expect! The person training could learn a lesson or two.

Always a wonderful atmosphere. I'm from out of town but when I visit Newtown, this is my first port of call. Decent selection of real ales and the landlord takes special pride with these. Customers are friendly and welcoming. Can't say anything bad about the place other than the competition of pool player is weak. 😁😁😁😁
Certainly one of the best Real Ale pubs I've visited in Mid Wales. A very warm welcome from Mel and Karen, the landlords who provide a 'curse free ' environment. It's a well decorated, comfortable pub where young and not so young can meet and enjoy the wider and frequently changing CAMRA ales and wines. Popular with visitors and locals I recommend The Sportsman most highly .
